Follow these steps if you are downloading a document from a course while using a Chromebook. Here is an example when downloading a Word document from a course. Select the document you want to open. A preview of the entire document opens. Select Download in the upper right hand corner of the screen. The Download Manager will show that it is complete. When you select SHOW IN FOLDER, the document downloaded will be visible in Google Docs. Downloaded documents on a Chromebook must be accessed from Google Docs. Select the document from Google Docs that you wish to complete and double click on the file name to open it. Once the document has been updated to reflect a completed assignment, download the document as a Microsoft Word (.docx). If a RTF document is downloaded, the document must first be moved to the Google Drive. Then the More (3 dots) icon is chosen, so that Open with and Google Docs can be selected. When all work has been completed on a specific document that is to be submitted, first download the RTF document as a Microsoft Word (.docx) document. With either type of document that is downloaded, a Microsoft Word (.docx) document will be uploaded to the course. Go to Assignments in GaVS Classroom (Canvas) and find the assignment you are wanting to submit and select Submit Assignment. Select the File Upload tab. Select Browse to find the document to submit. Find the document in Google Drive and double click on it to upload the file. The document name will be visible and select Submit Assignment. You can confirm after submitting the document to the right side of the page.
