Most instructional content for Credit Recovery courses will be delivered online, via the internet and accessible to all students 7 days a week, 24 hours a day from any internet connected device.  Neither the Department of Education nor the Georgia Credit Recovery Program are responsible for providing local districts, schools, or individuals students with equipment to access these courses.  Some Language Arts courses require reading material that may be provided by the local school, checked out at the library, or purchased at a book store.

Credit Recovery courses can be completed using a variety of modern computers and software. Specific courses may require additional software. The requirements for each course are noted in the course catalog and in the course itself. Any additional software will be free of charge and provided to you, or you will receive directions on how to obtain it.

The table below highlights the main technical requirements.

 Operating System Windows XP or later OS 10.4 or higher
 Browser Mozilla Firefox is the preferred browser, but our courses are accessible on a variety of modern browsers including Chrome, Safari and Internet Explorer.  Browser Plug-ins The browser used for course access should be JavaScript enabled and have updated versions of Adobe Reader, Sun Java, and Adobe Shockwave player.
 Media Players Courses use common media files such as .mp3, .m4v, and .mov. Students need software to open media files such as an updated version of Windows Media Player or QuickTime.
 Productivity Software Students need office productivity software to create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. This can be accomplished with software like Microsoft Office or Open Office. Alternatively, web-based tools like Google Docs or Zoho can also be used.
 Audio Speakers and microphone or headset.
 Internet Speed 56k modem required. DSL or cable modem recommended.
 Video SVGA monitor with a resolution of at least 800 x 600.
 Sun Java Runtime Environment (JRE) RE v1.4.2, 1.5.x, 1.6.x are required to run the equation editor. JRE 1.6 update 13 is recommended. 
 JavaScript and cookies Both JavaScript and cookies must be enabled.
